Impersonating a user

To help with troubleshooting and specific technical verifications, it can be useful for an administrator to have access to the same environment and views as a particular user. This is why the platform allows administrators to log in as any user. This process is called impersonation.

To impersonate a user:

  1. Log in to the platform using your administrator account.

  2. Go to the Administration > Users section.

  3. In the list of users, click on the three vertical dots at the right of the name of the desired user.

  4. Click on the Log in as < user name > option.

The message You < your name > are logged in as < user name > is displayed at the top of the screen. You then have access to the same view and features as this user.

To come back to the administration site under your administrator identity, click on Stop impersonation.

If you impersonate a student who has not yet logged in to the platform, you will not be able to see the reading assignments made to that student. Reading assignments are linked to groups, and the link between a student and their group is only created when they log in for the first time.
